The Deaf Counseling, Advocacy & Referral Agency – DCARA – is an organization dedicated to supporting and advocating for Deaf and hard of hearing people. If you need support dealing with your hearing loss this is a great place to start.
DCARA’s calendar includes information about classes and other events for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

National Open Caption Network works to get movie theaters to show open captioned movies. You can join their Facebook group page for information about showings all over the Bay Area
Closed captioned movies are available at all major chains at almost every movie showing through Captiview devices. You should consult your local theater’s listing for times and if in doubt contact them to ask.
Captioned telephones are available at no cost for people with hearing loss and you can find out more information on the CaptionCall website.
If you are interested in practicing and learning Sign Language (ASL) there are numerous meetups around the Bay Area where you can practice for free. One of the bigger ones is the San Francisco ASL group They tend to get a good crowd and all levels of ASL fluency attend them.
